Trying to control the outcome in any business situation is a futile effort and this is especially true in networking.
You know how it goes…
You go to an in-person networking event and you meet someone who seems real nice. You have a good connection. You have a nice chat. You exchange contact info and you suggest that you reconnect again. And then things go totally downhill. When you reconnect it’s clear the other person is after one thing and one thing only… your money.
This leaves us feeling USED and LIED TO.
That’s not how you network to build a mutually beneficial relationship that can last years or even decades!
How do I know? I’ve lived it! I have dozens upon dozens of true friendship connections that have lasted up to 19 YEARS in business. People I met online and then some in person, some I’ve never met face to face but we are true friends in every sense of the word. These are people I truly connected with from day one. People who I was interested in as a person, FIRST. Building these kinds of relationships is how you: gain customers, find partners, work together, get referrals from each other and on and on and on!
If you’d like to learn more about what I like to call “The Friendship Factor” and how you can network from now forth without EVER feeling icky or like a fraud who’s PRETENDING to like someone so they will buy from you then here’s a free training I did for you.
After you watch I’d love to hear what you think!
